Bloomfield Garden

Viet-AID is planning a new affordable housing development on Geneva Ave between Bloomfield and Tonawanda Streets. Twenty-seven new affordable apartments for families will be built on a long vacant, blighted site that Viet AID was able to purchase from real estate investors following many years of community efforts to get this land developed.

Past Projects

Vietnamese American Community Center

Through significant fundraising efforts and the generous support of donors, Viet-AID acquired a vacant lot to build the Vietnamese American Community Center. Viet-AID completed construction of the VACC in September 2002. The $5 million center, recognized as the first Vietnamese facility of its kind in the United States, provides office space for Viet-AID, Au Co Preschool, Kit Clark Senior Services, and several non-profits. Weekend cultural celebrations, the Vietnamese Boys and Girls Scouts, Vietnamese language development courses, among other events at the VACC contributes to the cultural identity of Fields Corner.

1392 Dorchester Avenue

Viet-AID partnered with Caritas Communities to develop 12 single occupancy (SRO) units on Dorchester Avenue. Construction completed in December 2004. In July 1, 2005, Viet-AID assumed full ownership and management of the property.

19-21 Faulkner Circle

Faulkner Circle (completed in the 2002) has provided affordable 2- and 3-bedroom units for families to live in Dorchester. The development is located next to the newly-renovated Fields Corner T Station, which allows Faulkner Circle residents’ to conveniently access public transportation. Additionally, residents have access to amenities on Dorchester Avenue that include an assortment of Vietnamese restaurants, cafes, banks, bar and grill, hair salons, health center, among others.

7 Toledo Terrace

Viet-AID has transformed this once abandoned drug house into three 2-bedroom units that have provided affordable housing for families to settle and live in Dorchester. The development is located within a several minute walk to Fields Corner T Station and amenities on Dorchester Avenue that include an assortment of Vietnamese restaurants, cafes, banks, vibrant bar and grill, hair salons, a health center, among others.

Bowdoin Geneva III

Viet-AID, partnering with Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, has completed construction of 20 homeownership units built on scattered parcels in the Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhoods. This partnership has revitalized decrepit abandoned parcels into vibrant single- and two-family homes.

1460 Dorchester Ave

This development creatively redeveloped a prominent site on Dorchester Avenue in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester to create a cornerstone building with 43 permanently affordable housing units including a manager’s unit and an anchor for local businesses. The new 4 story mixed-use building provides an attractive center at the highly visible streetscape. The upper floors include most of the residential units with twelve 1-BR studios and 31 studios. Two 1-BR units are on the ground level in addition to 6,274 SF of commercial space.
